ALEX: It’s not every day you find yourself sitting at a bar, drinking the local fire water, chatting to a forensic entomologist. But first, we went to Ubud. Weren’t sure how to get there but it was made easy by visiting a helpful bus tour company. Got to Ubud- the cultural centre of Bali – loads of statues and wooden carvings. Headed for the main attraction, The Monkey Forest. Cute monkeys doing human things with their hands you might think. Oh no.
MEGS: Ended up buying them bananas, which is a mistake. They are quite aggressive, especially the one that ended up pulling the whole bag of bananas from Alex’s hand and got a wee bit annoyed when he tried to retrieve them! Very cool in the monkey forest though – one path leads to The Lookout which is a little monkey cafe made only of bamboo, high up into the trees. You walk over a very rickety tree top bridge to a lookout across the forest – very hairy. Then had banana milkshake and off to explore rest of forest and Ubud . Had a drink at “The Pub” – huge tv. Then back by bus to Kuta. Got ready and went out to Tubes Bar for a drink and couple of games of pool. Then on to TJ’s for a slap-up Mexican dinner. Then to Paddy’s Bar for a nice Baileys creation and nasty creation called “Illusion Shaker” – horrid taste, contained the local Arak. So we gave our 2 for one drinks to the forensic entomologist.
[this is good] It seems remarkable idea to me is
