ALEX: No meagre breakfast out of a plastic bowl, oh no. Scrambled egg on toast al fresco, while Indonesian music jangles in the background. Took on the labyrinth that is Kuta, and liked what we saw. Surf gear, many gift ideas and loads of cheap stuff to stock up when we leave. Had our first stab at haggling today – over 2 beer bottle stubbies! The hawkers aren’t bad either. Good to know we can get a taxi, drugs or hair plait within seconds..
MEGS: Cool day window shopping – so many surfer shops its unreal, and many cheap cd stores too. So we’re gonna hopefully make some deals. Out hardest task is where to eat at night and what to do and see in Bali! The beach here is lovely too – I had a completely awful picture of Kuta in my head whch was so worng! Had free cocktail at the bar after moving into our room with a double bed, in-house movies, fridge with mini-bar, telephone, hot shower and western-style toilet and private balcony – plush! Then went for a drink at a place called The Bounty which is a huge ship style bar covered in lights – ordered Bacardi and pineapple, but I think they missed the 2 vital ingredients out..Then off for a Balinese meal at a nice restaurant/hotel – rice, chicken, satay, egg, veg, beef –very nice. Had first Bintang beer, but I miss my wine. (They don’t really cater for wine over here – costs a lot per bottle) Clothes shopping from eager shop keepers, then back to hotel to watch Mtv and action movie.
Yes, so our first stab just haggle at today. It's always been that way and always will most likely remain be that way, too
